On Tuesday the NFL released the schedule for the 2012 season. But before I get started on the Ravens I’d just like to say, it is disgusting how the New England Patriots have the weakest strength of schedule in the league. The NFL isn’t supposed to show favoritism, but you can clearly tell they’re “die-hard” Pats fans. Okay, I’m done complaining, I promise.
The Ravens finished up the 2011 season on a low, but will begin their 2012 Super Bowl campaign on a high. Last year the Ravens openly complained about not getting a home Monday Night Football game, well this year the NFL granted their wish. Along with a prime time game versus the Bengals, the Ravens will be back on the big stage in week three versus the Patriots, on Sunday Night Football. To end the prime time appearances at “The Bank”, the Ravens will play the Browns in week four, on Thursday night.
The Ravens’ schedule is exciting, but challenging. They have the fourth strongest schedule, and will play eight playoff teams from last season.
If the Ravens are in a tight division race at the end of the season this schedule could pose some trouble. In week eleven the Ravens will head north, to Pittsburgh, to play the Steelers on Sunday night. The following week the Ravens head out west to play the Chargers in San Diego. Coming off of a brutal game versus the Steelers, the last thing the Ravens want to do is travel cross-country to play a team that torched them the previous season. When the Ravens finally get out of San Diego they will have to get right back at it and prepare for the Steelers… again. If Ravens weren’t bruised up before these three weeks, they certainly will be after. Those three games could possibly make or break the Ravens’ season. The end of the season will without a doubt be the toughest part of the schedule.
